The University is a catholic private institution of higher  education, founded on June 13th 1580, rebuilt and directed by the Dominican Preachers Order, none profit organization, with legal status and autonomy within the limits indicated by the Political Constitution of the Republic of Colombia, its Laws and the Concordat subscribed between the Colombian State and the Holy See.
The mission of the University, inspired by the humanist thought and Christian belief of Saint Thomas Aquinas, consists of promoting the integral formation of people, in the field of higher education, by means of actions and processes of teaching-learning, investigation and social projection, so that they respond in an ethical, creative and critical manner to the demands of human life and be able to contribute to the solutions to problems and needs of society and the country.

It offers the service of higher Education at its headquarters in Bogota and the branches of Bucaramanga, Tunja, Medellin, and its regional centres of the OPEN and At DISTANCE modalities in many other cities throughout the country.

TUNIVERSIDAD SANTO TOMAS HEADQUARTERS IN BOGOTA: (7.600 students).
It is formed by three sites located in important city-planning development of the Capital. The central site consists of a well structured building of cultural interest that offers welcoming spaces for the academic and cultural activities of the students.
The University ensures that all its programs fulfil the highest standards of quality, responding to the interest of the State in order to offer society a higher Education with excellence. At this moment it has the recognition of high quality in its programs of Law, Public Accounting, Economics, Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, and also takes part voluntarily in the process of recognition for the rest of its programs of undergraduate and some of postgraduate.

   

The University is committed to the investigation field that is reflected in the creation of projects, in the consolidation of its three centres of Investigation and in the formation of groups and teams of investigation which are today recognized by COLCIENCIAS, responding to the national problems and allowing to view new forms of knowledge.

All its action of social projection and the signing of national and international agreements with well known institutions of higher Education and organizations, seek to relate teaching and investigation to practice within the context of reality of the country, to the integral formation of the students and their academic continuity.

 

 
   

TUNIVERSIDAD SANTO TOMAS BRANCH  IN BUCARAMANGA: (4.000 students)
In 1973 the Thomas University created this sectional that has high recognition in the north-east region of the country.
the central site and its campus represent appropriate places for the development of the academic activity of the students. They have classrooms and auditoriums equipped with technological infrastructure, dentistry clinics, swimming pools, Olympic gymnasium, football grounds, parlour games, basketball, tennis and volleyball for the accomplishment of the events that frame the university life.

   
It has obtained important recognitions from the Presidency of the Republic and the government  of the region due to the contributions made to the economic and social developments; with research programs investigation and social projection directed to different populations. At the moment it has five faculties recognized with high quality performance like Odontology, Public Accounting, Law, Architecture, Optometry and others with registration and in process of recognition by the National Education Boarding.

 

 
   

UNIVERSIDAD SANTO TOMAS BRANCH IN TUNJA: (1.700 students)
It was establish in 1996. The main site is located downtown. It is identified by its republican architectonic style with modern laboratories, classrooms, auditoriums, libraries and high technology computer rooms.
The academic, social and sport campus is in the northeast of the capital and offers manifold sport spaces for the integral formation of the students.

It is undertaking important research projects that have been recognized by the public regional bodies because of their orientation to improve the community’s life conditions.

 

   

UNIVERSIDAD SANTO TOMAS BRANCH IN MEDELLIN: (1.500 students)
The university opened this site in 1997. It has obtained a high recognition in academic, economic and cultural sectors of the region, thanks to the high quality of its academic programs as much of undergraduate as of postgraduate.

It offers programs of high acceptance by the youth, who has made initiatives through research projects and have made important contributions for private and public companies from the sector of high economic development of the country.

 

 
   

UNIVERSIDAD SANTO TOMAS: “OPEN” AND “AT A DISTANCE“ MODALITIES. (3.000 students)

The university opened these modalities in 1975 a fact that  established it as one of the pioneers in offering then in Colombia. It is present in 31 Colombia cities and offers careers whose foundation are within a framework of Christian values; a solid humanistic scientific disciplinary an technical preparations that entails the constructions and transformation of society. It applies contemporary pedagogical innovations that take into account the necessities of the social and regional surroundings.
